GRAPHIC DESIGN, WEB DESIGN & UI/UX DESIGN? AN INITIAL CONFUSION

From the first instance, the word "Design" would make you think about Graphics Design. With the evolving of technology, the media industry has also evolved from print media to the web, mobile and softwares, in turn, may make you feel confused about all the job designations trending in the Design World. Hence, this brings us to decipher Graphic Design, Web Design and UI/UX Design.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Research has shown that Graphic Design is the easiest way to understand the design term and visual communication because Graphic Designer use their imagination, color, typography to communicate their idea through print, web or visual design. Graphic Designer often work more with print designs and deliverables, like posters, brochures, invitations, business cards, among other things. They also occasionally create UI design assets for the web like logos and icons. Generally, Graphic Design relates to communicating the idea of branding or an advertisement to communicate to end users using text or images. The softwares commonly used by graphic designers are CorelDraw, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Figma,Sketch,Adobe XD among others. "One thing Graphic Designer do not need to know is how to code"

UI/UX DESIGN

User Interface (UI) and User Exchange (UX) Designers work exclusively on the web rather than in print like a Graphic Designers. Owing to that, they need to have a deep understanding of user experience (UX) and Web Design.

UI/UX has to do with the "look and feel" of a website, app or other product. It deals with interactive element such as buttons,color scheme, form input fields, animations, drop down menu and typography. UI/UX Designers build web,web apps, and web layouts, and need to have a strong wireframing abilities in their design toolkits. Like graphic designers, they also need to have a strong knowledge of general design fundamentals like color theory and typography. Softwares they work with: Adobe (Photoshop, Illustartor, InDesign, XD), but better with Figma,Sketch,Azure RP, and so on.

WEB DESIGN
Web Design is the process of building, branding and maintaining a collection of electronic files that determine the layout,color, texture, text, graphics and images that deliver pages to visitors. Simply put, Web design is the design of websites that are displayed on the internet. It usually refers to the UX aspects of web development rather than software development. The two common methods for designing websites that work well both on Desktop and mobiles are "responsive" and "adaptive" design. The concept of both terms refer to the change in appearance but this is subject to width of the browser environment the website is viewed on. Responsive websites respond to the size of the browser at any given point but Adaptive website, as it implies, adapts to the width of the browser at a specific point. It is well said that, it is important for a Web Designer to have an all-round knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript as well as UX design, Visual Design and Search Engine Optimization (S.E.O). Therefore, it is safe to say that a Web Design is the combination of Frontend Website Development, UI/UX Design and Digital Marketing.
